The E60 M5 and E6X M6 took the world by storm in the mid 2000s with their 5.0L V10 Engines and edgy styling. To this day they are highly sought after both for their future classic potential, and being the only BMWs to ever come equipped with V10 engines. With the current trends, it is likely we will never see an engine like the S85 in a production car again.
There is no questioning that the V10 S85 is an amazing motor. However, it does come with its own set of issues. One of those is the sheer amount of heat it produces. Keeping oil temperatures in check can be quite a challenge for the M5/M6. It is not uncommon to see oil temperatures spike to dangerously high levels during performance driving.
